Cashless Everywhere is a new initiative introduced by the General Insurance Council of India recently in consultation with General Insurance companies.
So far customers could do cashless payments only in the hospitals that were covered by their health insurance company’s network.
If policyholder is admitted in a hospital not covered by the network, the customer has to make full payment out of their pocket and later initiate a reimbursement of claim from the insurance company, which can be a lengthy process.
Under ‘Cashless Everywhere’ now customers can get treated in any hospital they choose and avail a cashless facility, even those not covered by their company’s network.
This ‘Cashless Everywhere’ is however subject to following:
a) For elective procedures, the customer should inform the Insurance Company at least 48 hours before the admission
b) For emergency treatment, the customer should inform the Insurance Company within 48 hours of admission
c) The claim should be admissible as per the terms of the policy and will cover the only the sum insured
The 100% cashless system will be backed up by a technological platform with the aid of National health Authority and will take upto 1 year for implementation. Hospital with more than 15 beds will be covered under this.
